The Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary is a 12 acre preservation run by the California State
Fullerton Foundation. The sanctuary is actually a series of small trails, with flora
abundantly labeled. Whatever fauna you see on the trails is strictly by chance, but it's
out there. A nature center showcases some small reptiles and rodents, and a few stuffed
specimens. There is a special, glassed in observation area with bird feeders that attract
many varieties of birds, most notably hummingbirds. If you're interested in adventure, try
the 9.5 mile hiking trail that begins here. The trail climbs the mountains for some great
views of the Orange County terrain. Restrooms and water are available at the sanctuary,
but once on the trail, you are on your own.
